Three Ukrainian veterans from the Second Wind community held a series of training sessions at climbing gyms in Paris. Together with a coach from the Kyiv branch of Space, they spent three days trying out new routes.
From August 27 to 29, the team visited three climbing gyms: Climbing District Sèvres-Lecourbe, Climbing District Saint-Lazare, and Climb Up Aubervilliers.
All three veterans train regularly at the Kyiv branch of Second Wind and are active members of the community. In Paris, they tackled routes of varying difficulty, practiced with different belay techniques, and tested their skills in new environments.
“It’s important to us that veterans have the opportunity not only to train regularly but also to gain new experiences. Different climbing gyms mean new routes, varying levels of difficulty, and the chance to try different types of belaying. These trips broaden the participants’ athletic experience and motivate them to keep moving forward,” the Second Wind community notes.
Second Wind is a community of veterans that helps them return to an active lifestyle through adaptive mountain sports. The project offers regular rock climbing sessions, as well as mountaineering expeditions and field trips. Training and programs for community members are free of charge.
Only together! Only upward!
