Three days of hands-on training on natural rock formations in Kamianets-Podilskyi marked another important step in developing adaptive climbing in Ukraine!

Members of the Second Wind community, who regularly attend our climbing sessions at indoor climbing gyms and actively practise adaptive climbing, also took part in the practical module of The Adaptive Climbing Program. After completing the theoretical module, participants moved on to intensive training on real rock. Over three days, they practised belaying techniques, route adaptations, the use of specialised equipment, safe interaction and support for people with different disabilities. Most importantly, they learned to apply these skills in real outdoor conditions, work as a team and adapt their approach to each participant’s individual needs.

For Second Wind, participating in programmes like this is not only about developing individual skills but also about advancing adaptive climbing in Ukraine. Our goal is to create more opportunities for veterans who use prostheses to access safe climbing sessions, mountain routes and new sporting challenges. We are sincerely grateful to Paradox Sports for sharing their expertise, valuable experience and specialised adaptive climbing equipment, which will help further develop this sport in Ukraine.

The programme is implemented in partnership with Razom for Ukraine and Paradox Sports. Special thanks to The North Face and Petzl for generously providing climbing equipment! More training, new opportunities and shared adventures lie ahead.
